Court backs council decision to revoke Scunthorpe taxi driver’s licence after safety breaches

Comments Off on Court backs council decision to revoke Scunthorpe taxi driver’s licence after safety breaches

A Scunthorpe taxi driver who was caught speeding and watching videos while driving with a passenger failed in his attempt to overturn the Council’s decision to revoke his licence.

Magistrates have upheld North Lincolnshire Council’s immediate revocation of the licence, confirming the driver was not “fit and proper” to carry passengers.

Mr Shah Abu Sufian Md Sheruzzaman Siddiquee, 44, of Ashdown Avenue, Scunthorpe, had his taxi driver’s licence revoked in January 2025. The immediate revocation came after five videos were received of him speeding and watching videos whilst driving.

Licensed drivers are legally required to be considered fit and proper. Drivers are subject to strict standards to ensure public safety.

At a hearing held on Friday 5 December 2025 at Grimsby Magistrates’ Court, the court upheld North Lincolnshire Council’s decision, agreeing that Mr Siddiquee was not fit and proper to hold a driver’s licence and confirming that the Council upheld its duties.

As part of its ruling, Mr Siddiquee was ordered to pay the full legal costs incurred by the Council in bringing the case forward – over £2,000.

Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre is pleased to announce the opening of a beautiful new exhibition at Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre

Moments in Time

Coastal Photography by Steve Dixey

Moments in Time showcases the extraordinary talent of local photographer Steve Dixey. Steve has spent a lot of his free time as a beach wanderer, drawn to the sands and the sea, peering in pools, digging around for fishing bait and going fishing. The sea is in his blood; his father worked on Grimsby trawlers.

This exhibition features a collection of his stunning photographs of coastal scenes, capturing the natural and man-made heritage between Cleethorpes and The Wash.

Opens Saturday 13 December until 15 March 2026

Lloyd Griffith’s Christmas Candlelit Concert

Comments Off on Lloyd Griffith’s Christmas Candlelit Concert

Join us for a festive night with Grimsby’s own Lloyd Griffith!

Classically trained Bass-baritone (yes, really!) and all-around funny man Lloyd Griffith returns home for a magical evening of Christmas music at the beautiful, candlelit Grimsby Minster.

You might know Lloyd as a comedian, actor, or maybe from bumping into him at Blundell Park, but he’s also a seriously talented singer, and he’s bringing all of that (plus his trademark humour) back to where it all began.

Expect carols, Christmas classics, a few singalongs, maybe even a Grimsby-inspired tune or two, and definitely some laughs along the way.
Come join us and get into the festive spirit in one of Grimsby’s most stunning settings!

The Café will be open, serving a selection of seasonal refreshments,  including festive mulled wine and mince pies!
